It’s Semi-Official — Disney Here We Come

We announced a handful of weeks back that Emily was chosen to have a wish granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. With so much going on between then and now we haven’t been able to get an update together. While the details are few and far between at the moment here is what we can tell you;

  • A trip to Disney to be a princess was Emily’s wish
    • So while it’s hard for a 3 year old to express what their one wish would be, we are fairly certain a trip to Disney will be one Emily will never forget. Her love for all things Disney led that to be the natural choice. Between the movies (Frozen, Brave) characters (Minnie Mouse especially) and princesses (what 3 year old girl doesn’t like dressing up like a princess) there wasn’t anything else we considered that fit better for Emily than Disney. We don’t call her the Warrior Princess for nothing.
    • We don’t have an exact date yet. We are still awaiting final approval from Make-A-Wish and then need to consult with the doctors on the best travel time for her health. We are shooting for this late fall/early winter to alleviate as much concern for the temperatures in Orlando as possible. Emily doesn’t do well with the heat, let alone the Orlando humidity. With all of our birthdays at the end of the year, or early next, it will be good timing for a family getaway as well. There are still a lot of unknowns in the process of her pancreatectimy, but while that timeline takes precedence it seems like late this year will work best.
  • Our wish volunteers are great
    • Once we received the notification Emily was chosen to be granted a wish we have been in contact with two volunteer wish granters. Prior to their arrival for our in-home meeting they asked about each of the kids likes. Little did we know they would be bringing gifts for all the kids. With just the little information we provided them they knocked the gifts out of the park.
    •  One of the wish granters indirectly knew of Emily’s story through her kids attending Noblesville schools. During our discussions the story came up about the Noblesville High School dance marathon for the Riley Kids Foundation where Emily was to be a guest of honor. The volunteer knew about the dance marathon, but wasn’t aware that the girl who couldn’t make it that night was Emily. Such a small world.

Once we have more information regarding specifics we will be updating the site so stay tuned, or signup on the bottom right to receive notifications of new updates via email.
